An improved EMS simulation-optimization model with Poisson mixture distribution

A Discrete Event System (DES) simulation and optimization model is proposed for the ambulance allocation problem in an Emergency Medical Service (EMS) system. The accuracy of was improved by estimation input parameters using Poisson mixture Expectation Maximization Algorithm. results were proven Mann–Whitney Kolmogorov–Smirnov tests. DES run OptQuest program embedded Arena software. response times cases within urban rural regions 40% 45%, respectively, station success rates areas raised to 95% 96%, respectively. Our indicated that number ambulances must be revised, their allocations stations real system need reorganized achieve required EMS performance standards.
